Usually, when one is watching a movie, one can forget that it is a movie because the cinematic techniques are planned to be subtle, as to not be noticed. The monks bring Jesse and his father to Bhutan where him and two other children are to be determined if they are really the reincarnation of Lama Dorje. Finally, the showdown between Mara and Siddhartha deserves a mentioning. My heart rate is going through the roof. Evil: Hasten to do good; restrain your mind from evil. In Gradually, over the course of the movie, first Jesse's mother and then Lama Norbu tell the life story of Prince Siddhartha, reading from a book that Lama Norbu has given to Jesse. The Dhammapada By defeating his self, Siddhartha reaches his dhamma in the movie.
