It is sad that we automatically assume that they are not talented, and the film effectively disproves that theory. They are smart and creative and caring. All of this is highly emotional. I was really touched by this documentary because the kids offered such insight about their living situations. Or worse, they would turn out like their parents. Touching and heartfelt, yet devoid of sentimentality, Born into Brothels defies the tear-stained tourist snapshot of the global underbelly. She took it upon herself to try and put them through school, in her efforts to ensure that they did not get sucked back into the life they had been born into.
